My States and Territories

Everyone keeps notches on their belt. This also helps me remember what I did. There are some places I went as a kid that I would love to revisit with my children.

Northeast Region

Washington D.C.. The first real trip of my adult life, I tagged along as a “chaperone” on my brother’s school trip. All of the major sites were visited and the metro blew my mind.

Southeast Region

Alabama. At one point in time Orange Beach and Gulf Shores was my home away from home during the summer. I have never ventured far from the coast, though, until our 2019 road trip to Tennessee. Little River Canyon, enough said.

Arkansas. A long weekend road trip to a rental RV allowed us to explore Lake Catherine State Park and Hot Springs National Park. Very scenic drives.

Florida. From deep sea fishing in Pensacola, to Walt Disney World, to a Panhandle-to-Miami road trip, this might be the only other state beside Louisiana where I’ve covered the most ground.

Louisiana. My home state shouldn’t count, but it does feature New Orleans, which some folks travel internationally to visit.

Mississippi.  Mostly used as a cut-through on the way to Alabama, I finally did something of interest by taking a ferry from Biloxi to West Ship Island.

North Carolina. I spent some time visiting family near Raleigh, where I also watched my first NHL games (4/14/2006 and 1/18/2007). I would live there in a heartbeat.

Tennessee. This was one of the states I wished to take my kids – specifically to the Smoky Mountain National Park – and it did not disappoint.

Virginia. While on a visit to Washington D.C. I did technically take day trips to Arlington and Mount Vernon, to the obligatory tourist spots there. Arlington National Cemetery was truly humbling.

Southwest Region

Colorado. We went to Breckenridge for our honeymoon. Best part was a toss-up between a back-country snow-cat tour or snowmobiling to the continental divide.

Texas. Another state where the main focus was visiting family. Though, we did road trip to Galveston for a cruise once.  We crossed on of the coolest bridges I’ve ever seen on the way.
